Improvement at round two of the Monster Energy MX Nationals for Luke Wilson

Posted:

Luke Wilson showed marked improvement from the get go at round two of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals held at Murray Bridge in South Australia on Sunday the 28th of April.

After qualifying in 30th position at the opening round at Raymond Terrace two weeks again, the Wilson Jetpilot Kawasaki rider was able to post the 21st quickest time at Murray Bridge giving himself a little confidence boost heading in to the days racing.

When the gates dropped on the opening race things did not go all Wilson's way, with an early first lap crash leaving him on the deck. Wilson however did not give up, putting his head down he charged is way from last place up to 26th by race end, while fighting against some serious arm pump issues.

"I was able to ride back through the back in the first moto, which is a big change from last year." Wilson explained. "Last year if I crashed and was at the back of the field I would generally finish up there.

"I put my head down out there, charged as hard as I could and seen how many positions I could make up.

"I struggled with arm pump, I think most people struggled with arm pump today. The first moto it was killing me, I could barley hold on to the bike," ," he added.

The second moto faired better for Wilson. Though he did not get the start he was looking forward to, he was able to put in a solid 30 minute plus one lap and once again moved forward during the race to finish in 21st position.

"In the second moto I felt alright, I still got a little bit of arm pump, but I was able to push through it, and it is something I will work on for next week.

With back to back rounds, both being held in the Southern part of the country, Wilson originally planned to stay in South Australia during this week before heading to Victoria for round 3 of the championship on Sunday the 5th of May.

Wanting to continue to push forward and improve his results in 2013, Wilson decided at the last minute to head back to Queensland to concentrate on his training.

"I was originally planning on staying in South Australia before the Wonthaggi round in Victoria next weekend, but I think ill head back home and continue to train hard, I know if I stay down here I wont train as hard." Wilson concluded.

Catch the Wilson's Jetpilot Kawasaki team in action next weekend at Wonthaggi for round three of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals.
