Hyundai and Llewellyn Hyundai back Matt Schubring’s national tour

Posted:

Motoring giant Hyundai Motor Company Australia in conjunction with Llewellyn Hyundai has thrown its weight behind Australian Freestyle Motocross and action sports innovator Matt Schubring; in lead up to his 'road trip' of Australia; beginning tomorrow in Boonah, Queensland.

Schubring, who is one of Australia's longest serving and most decorated Freestyle Motocross (FMX) athletes, sets off on a nationwide tour of Australia's best free riding spots- and educating young budding FMX riders in the process.

Schubring, in conjunction with co-rider/coach Steve Sommerfeld, founded the 'Under the Fender' FMX academy, with its official 'launch' on July 20. The day received rave reviews covering all aspects of FMX in a first ever coaching atmosphere to help try and uncover Australia's next big thing in dirt biking.

The specially designed coaching course features metal ramps from small distances of 45 feet up to competition size 75 feetand all utilising a full table-top landing ramp which takes away many of the dangerous aspects related to Freestyle Motocross.

The duo will head south, via some of Australia's favourite hidden riding spots in the name of capturing amazing video footage and still photographs ‰ÛÒ all whilst investigating future sites for further coaching academies in Victoria and South Australia, before heading west via Mildura, to Perth, WA, where they will once again run coaching academies.

"We've had a lot of great feed back for all of out coaching clinics as their really isn't anything else of its nature in the world that I know of. Steve (Sommerfeld) and I enjoy teaching youngsters everything we've learned in our years riding and competing in FMX and think this is the ultimate way to help grow the future of our sport!" Matt Schubring said.

A welcome addition to Schubring's sponsorship partners, Hyundai Motor Company Australia / Llewellyn Hyundai support means the addition of a brand new Diesel iLOAD van to transport the boys' equipment and KTM Motorcycles across the Aussie outback. Hyundai Sales Manager Brian Bensleyis confident in Schubring's ability to showcase the iLOAD and in its dependability for the trip and is excited to involve Hyundai in action sports for the first time ever.

"The unique opportunity to support an athlete such as "Schuie," whom we believe epitomizes the "New Thinking New Possibilities" brand slogan of Hyundai, is one that we are very excited about," Bensleyis said.

"Hyundai has now reached a tipping point where we need a qualitative approach, bringing bigger ideas and relevant solutions to our customers. Led by our new slogan and the thinking behind it, we will become a company that keeps challenging ourselves to open up new possibilities for people and the planet.

"We see the connection between, ourselves as a company, and brand, and what Matt is able to bring to his sport in the passion and commitment to challenging the existing, and going bigger and better. Matt will be exploring Australia and taking his teaching to the road hassle free, due to the toughness and strength the iLOAD 2.5 litre CRDI offers. With 7.1 (L/100km Extra) he will be stopping to ride the hidden gems more than stopping at the pump. We wish Matt and the team the best of luck on his journey and look forward to some amazing footage and stories from the trip."

In celebrating his new relationship with Hyundai, Schubring is running an online competition - where fans can message him via his facebook, to go into the draw to win 'LOADS' of stuff from signed posters, to 'Little Schuie' Toys, UNIT hats and clothing and more. There will be a new prize pack up for grabs each week.
