Husqvarna Mobility has confirmed it will shut down its in-house factory motocross and supercross program in the United States at the end of the 2026 SMX World Championship season, as the wider Bajaj Mobility Group continues restructuring operations following major financial issues over recent years.
From 2027 onward, Husqvarna will no longer field an official factory team in AMA Supercross, Pro Motocross and the SMX World Championship. Instead, the brand will move to a support model, supplying selected independent teams and riders with factory-level engines, suspension components and technical assistance through a leasing program.
The move effectively leaves KTM as the sole official factory motocross and supercross team within the Bajaj Mobility Group structure, after GasGas previously scaled back its own factory involvement in the United States.
The decision comes during a significant period of change for the company formerly known as PIERER Mobility AG, which officially rebranded to Bajaj Mobility AG earlier in 2026 as Indian manufacturer Bajaj Auto increased its control within the business.
The restructure follows serious financial difficulties that emerged during 2024, when rapid expansion, extensive racing investment and broader business pressures forced the company into major cost-cutting measures and operational changes. Since then, the group has focused on stabilising its core motorcycle brands — KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas — while reducing its European workforce and streamlining racing operations.
As part of the shift, Husqvarna says it still plans to remain active within the American racing scene through customer support and satellite team programs, rather than directly operating a works team.
The company also indicated it wants to place greater emphasis on the broader Husqvarna motorcycle range and riding community, including motocross, enduro, travel, supermoto, naked and electric models.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing will continue competing through the remainder of the 2026 season, including the AMA Supercross finale, Pro Motocross Championship and SMX post-season, before the current factory structure officially comes to an end.
