Husqvarna Riders Target More Breakout Success This Weekend

Posted:

Husqvarna Motocross Racing Team rider Brock Winston has his eyes on a significant milestone approaching this weekend's second round of the Monster Energy MX nationals at Appin, NSW.

Currently 11th in the standings of the Premier MX1 Category after his first round in the big leagues, and having finished off his Broadford round with a ninth place in the final moto, Winston knows that cracking the top 10 is the next step on the path he wants to travel.

‰ÛÏThe top 10 is the next step for me, for sure, but then I don't want to be 10th either!" Winston stated. "Two years ago in MX 2, I started off running 10th and I‰Ûªm not enjoying being back there again.

"I practice and ride with the top MX1 guys all the time and I know I can ride with them. I just need to sort a few things out and I‰Ûªll be there. At Appin, the lap times always seem to be close, so it will be important to qualify well."

In line with the famous Husqvarna brand‰Ûªs position as one of the pioneers of motocross, several young factory and factory support riders made a big impression at the series opener, most notably Kiwi Kayne Lamont who dominated the MX2 category with two race wins and a second.

‰ÛÏI've done a little more testing since the last round and we've made some gains from it, but I've also been crook again." Lamont admitted. "Last time I was battling with my appendix, this time it‰Ûªs been with flu-like symptoms, so I've been in the wars.

"I had a ride today though and I feel okay, and Appin is quite similar to home with the natural hills, so, nothing too different. I'm just happy to be leading. Three good starts were a huge factor in our races, and I stayed upright which is another bonus.

"I'm hoping for a similar result at Appin, then I hope I can get on the bike and train a bit more leading up to the round at Wonthaggi.‰Û
