Husqvarna Riders Target KTM Enduro-X Finale

Posted:

The brand-new Husqvarna Enduro Racing Team is hungry to back up the success of its first two weeks of existence as the KTM enduro-X nationals concludes at Melbourne's Calder Park Raceway this Sunday.

Despite a short and intensive lead-in the new-look outfit tasted success upon its very first outing, with guest rider Mike Brown taking a skilful podium at the second round of the KTM Enduro-X Nationals at Parramatta just two weeks ago.

A week later, Byron Bay ace and reigning Queensland enduro champion Lachlan Stanford gave the team its first ever win, with a come from behind victory in the Husqvarna Queensland Sprint series opener at Kilkivan near Gympie.

Now with the final round of the KTM Enduro-X series in their gun sights, the Husqvarna men are focused on making a final impact before the team turns its attention fully to preparation for the upcoming Australian Off-Road Championship series.

Mike Brown's whirlwind Australian visit has culminated in a week of intensive EX track practice in Victoria, and the Tennessee native is confident that he is in good nick for the final.

‰ÛÏIt's been a really good couple of weeks for me, to see kangaroos and koalas and a lot of different places in Australia that people don't normally see." Brown commented regarding his time down under. "Toby‰Ûªs been a really good tourist guide for sure!

"We've also been getting in lots of Enduro-X practice this week, which is really good, so we should be up the top this week hopefully.

‰ÛÏWe have been to a different track every day, in Australia you‰Ûªre into it as big as we are. We've been working on things and to have Toby with me and riding really good has been better for me so hopefully one of us wins on Sunday, as long as we beat those Yamaha guys that's the main thing!‰Û

Former Aussie champ Glenn Kearney continues to juggle team management duties with racing ambitions, but is intent on finding his best result this Sunday.

He'll switch to an FE250 for the race alongside similarly mounted Scott Keegan, while Lachy Stanford will forego the event to concentrate his AORC build-up.

‰ÛÏIt‰Ûªs all going really good for us, in two weeks have we made a big difference to our preparation." Kearney stated. "I'm ready to go now, and I've switched to the FE250 for Sunday.

"The 501 was fantastic in the dry at the last round, but in the wet - not so easy to get around on. Also I‰Ûªve done some suspension testing, not so much enduro-X specific, more just to improve my overall comfort.

"I haven't touched base with Mike too much but I'm sure he is ready to roll, I just talked to Scotty and he‰Ûªs all excited and primed for a good result this weekend. Lachy won't be with us in Melbourne, he wants to focus on getting ready for the AORC.

"He still works for a living and has limited time available. It's a fair drive from Byron for 30 minutes on the bike, so with no possibility at a championship he‰Ûªd prefer to stay home and spend more time on the bike. He's got big aspirations for this year's AORC so I support that.‰Û
