GYTR GLIDE PLATES

Yamaha has a host of Genuine aftermarket goodies available for their bikes including a range of GYTR glide and bash plates to suit every application.

We ran a GYTR aluminium glide plate on our 2018 Yamaha YZ450F which will now make its way over to our 19 250F, while Jayden's YZ65 got the full plastic GYTR glide plate.

The aluminium Glide plate fitted to our YZ450F gave some added protection to the bottom of the engine cases and frame rails, more so for the occasional off-road race we entered, though for 2018 the only consisted of the Hattah Desert race.

With a handful of South Australian Off-Road rounds planned for 2019, that added protection when hitting the occasional log or rock section will undoubtedly come in handy, while during those wet MX days the Glide Plate does do an excellent job of reducing the excess dirt/mud build up between the underside frame rails and motor, along with ensuring the frame rails don't dig into the soft dirt on the muddier or sandier events.

While the Aluminium guide plate for our YZ450F and now YZ250F offers some great base protection, the GYTR Plastic guide plate for the YZ65 give the bike some much-needed protection.

While providing some extra coverage to protect both the ignition cover and water pump, the most valuable protection comes from protecting the radiator hose the runs along the underside of the bike.

At this point in Jayden's riding the radiator hose running under a small section of the YZ65 is not a big issue as pretty much all of his riding is done on local motocross tracks, however with him asking more and more to go "Bush Racing" the guide plate is certainly going to come in handy in the near future.

Both the guide plates on both bikes took a matter of minutes to fit, with both utilising a brace that comes when buying the glide plate that runs between the frame rails and locks the plate into position.
