Get Set For a Ripping ASC Final Round

Posted:

This is one not to be missed, in only three short days the final round of the 2014 Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship Series, will be staged at Sydney Motorsport Park (SMP), and fans and spectators are in for one seriously action packed final round.

Every championship is still up for grabs
Anyone who knows motorsport will concede that no race is over until the chequered flag flies. For all classes this weekend, every championship is still up for grabs. A mere 63 points separates Superbike series leader Wayne Maxwell from fourth placed Glenn Allerton with Stauffer in second and Herfoss a close third, meaning a DNF, or even a minor mistake could change the championship standings dramatically with 75 points still up for grabs.

In the talent packed Supersport class, the battle will be even tighter. Series leader Alan Morris holds on to his championship lead by a single point from Aiden Wagner. With a 2014 championship resting on a single point, fans are going to witness history being made when these two go to battle this weekend and the winner of the Supersport championship will walk away with a brand new Yamaha R1 as the series prize.

Racing will be tight and fast
With a handful of riders well within reach of their respective championships, fans can expect fast aggressive, risk-taking racing this weekend. SMP provides racers with plenty of opportunities to make passes, meaning we could see upwards of five different race leaders in a single race. With points being on the top of every riders‰Ûª agenda, and so much talent squeezed into one circuit, spectators should be strapped in and prepared to see the best road racing Australia has seen in years.

Multi-time National Champion, Kevin Curtain will make a shock return to racing
Kev Curtain quit racing and the Yamaha Racing Team after the opening round of the series, unexpectedly the FX Superbike king of xtreme will return to the track for the final round this weekend aboard a Team Trinder Aprilla. With the speed of Curtain added to the mix of riders, he is sure to stir up the final championship standings come Sunday afternoon, and his results might just throw a spanner in the works for the front runners in Superbike who all need every available point.

Home round for Glenn Allerton
Allerton who currently holds fourth place in the Superbike class, will call the final round home this weekend. With track familiarity and family and friends support on his side, fans could see a late charge from the BMW rider who is still well within contention of a 2014 championship podium.

Battle of the red
A small sea of Honda Racing Team (HRT) red has already flooded the top three positions of the Superbike class heading into this weekend, but with championships on the line, fans will see the lovable teammates go head to head at Sydney Motorsport Park. With Jamie Stauffer and Troy Herfoss currently holding down second and third positions, Maxwell is going to have his work cut out for him if he is to fight off his fellow men in red and hold on to the 2014 Superbike championship lead.

Privateers sticking it to the factory guys
As the year comes to a close, riders are determined to turn heads and ensure their last race is one to remember. Privateers will be a force to be reckoned with this weekend, the likes of Mike Jones, Sean Condon, Daniel Falzon and more, will all be battling to finish the year in top-10 positions, and stamp their authority on their respective classes for one last time.
Top notch venue
Just to add to the action packed racing, and battles for championships, Sydney Motorsport Park is not only a rider favorite, but is one of the best circuits for spectator viewing alike. This weekend fans will have the opportunity to access some of the best viewing areas SMP has to offer, ensuring that all spectators can get up close and personal with the history-making racing.

Swann cements place in Australian Road Racing
2014 has seen the return of Swann Insurance to the fold in the premier road racing series in Australia - a welcome return from their sponsorship in the glory days of Australian Road Racing.

The final round will round off a wonderful year of partnership between Swann and the ASC, and the series will showcase the best of Australia‰Ûªs riders, teams and sponsors at the very popular Sydney Motorsport raceway.
