Dylan Long continues privateer push with equal second at Swan Hill

Posted:

Dylan Long has put down a solid top 3 result, at round two of the Victorian Motocross Championships in the Pro Lites class held on a very demanding Swan Hill circuit on Saturday the 15th of June.

In fresh winter conditions, on a water logged track after heavy rains earlier in the week, the track that formed into energy sapping rut track, required ultimate concentration for the entire 2 x 30 minute races.

Long felt he was much improved and better, with another week of more settled personal preparation and more importantly was extremely happy with testing and his new set up with ZipFix Suspension.

"Zipfix Suspension head Technician Tye headed out to the race track this weekend after spending the past week working with me to find a good suspension setting." Long explained.

"We made a few small adjustments in practice and race conditions, but I couldn‰Ûªt be happier with the suspension work so far." Long added.

After a fierce battle in the first few laps with Journey Man, Matt Ryan and National Speedster Kade Mosig. Long who was sitting close in 3rd position behind the duo before assuming the lead early in the race.

The KTM Privateer racer, then spent the remainder of the race battling with Mosig, with the lead changing up to four times. With three laps remaining, Mosig opened up a small gap that he held to the chequered flag, with Long finishing a close 2nd.

Kale Makeham who currently sits in third place in the MX Nationals standings in the MX2 class finished in third.

In race two Mosig took the lead, with Makeham in 2nd, while Long had an average start sitting in about 7th position early in the opening lap. Long put his head down and went to work making his way through the field to be sitting in third place by mid race despite having a bit of a scare with a Big Front end Loose that he managed to gather up.

Long then closed in on Makeham after the KTM 250 two stroke rider, made a mistake and had a small crash. Makeham remounted just in front of Long and the two battled all the way to the finish, where Makeham pipped Long for second position, while Mosig claimed the race win.

Long finished the day tied on 42 points with Makeham and was relegated to third for the round on count back. It was another positive step forward for Long as he starts his preparation for the second half of the MX Nationals championship, which resumes on the 14th of April at Appin.

"It felt great to finishes third overall today and really challenge and finish ahead of a couple of the front running MX2 National riders." Long said after his podium performance.

"I feel that with the people I have surrounded myself with that I am heading in the right direction, which we showed here today at Swan Hill. I will continue to work hard during the remainder of the mid season break and look forward to the second half of the MX Nationals season."

"I really could not have done this with out the help of, Mum Tania & Dad Mark, KTM Australia, Paul Keepence Mechanic, PTR Phil Taiton Racing Engines, Bret Trigg Visual Richard Muurlings Vortex Ignitions, Tye at ZipFix Suspension, Rock Oil, Afam Bars, Ek Chains, KN Oil Filters, Nissan Brakes, Kenda Tyres, Fist Gloves ,Collective Graphics, Monza Imports, Grays Transport, Pete Ransom ABLE on site services, Lindsay Knowles Photography, AMSA, and Angus & support from all his family & friends."
