The sets we installed in our Sherco 300 two-stroke were still perfectly sized and shaped, with none of the “expiry range roulette” you get from some other brands. Fresh foam is happy foam, and happy foam seats easily.
Installation: The Expected Battle, No Extra Drama
Fitting a mousse is always a workout. A rite of passage. A chance to question your life choices. And then you finish, admire your handiwork, and immediately forget how much you swore during the process.

The supplied lube coated well, didn’t clump, and didn’t smell like it could dissolve a small animal. Points for that. It’s a silicone-based product that is their own recipe and from all accounts prior, and our short experience, it is lasting longer, keeping the Dura Mousse well lubricated and extending its lifespan.
Ride Feel: The Familiar “Dead” Feel That’s Secretly Fantastic
If you’ve never ridden mousse before, the first few impacts feel… unusual. The bike whispers a different language through the bars. Impacts feel muted, almost cushioned, like the tyre is quietly absorbing the chaos before it reaches you.
Coming off tubes or tubeless, it can feel “dead” at first, especially over logs or rock ledges. But that sensation is actually the mousse doing its job with stoic enthusiasm. Give it a couple of rides, and you’ll start to wonder why you ever tolerated the skittery, ping-pong feel of a pressured tube.
Cornering feedback is slightly reduced compared to traditional air setups, but again, once your brain recalibrates, it becomes second nature. After 20 years on mousse systems myself, tubes now feel like medieval torture devices by comparison.
Durability: Two Months In and Still Going Strong
We’ve had the Dura Mousse installed for around two months, including plenty of riding across typical Aussie terrain. During a recent inspection, there were no signs of wear, no pressure drop, and the supplied lube was still doing its job beautifully. No drying, no flaking, and no early degradation.
Like any mousse, long-term care means occasionally re-lubing to prevent friction wear. But so far, the Dura Mousse has behaved better than many of its competitors at the same age, which is a promising sign for longevity.
