David Casteu out of Dakar with leg injuries

Frenchman David Casteu has withdrawn from the 2010 Dakar rally after the Sherco rider crashed and wounded his leg. The early Dakar leader fell during the fifth stage with the result being a deep gash to his right leg courtesy of the bikes stand. Casteu was rescued by a Tango, a medical helicopter and was repatriated to the medical bivouac in Antofagasta. Disappointed but with a moral made of steel, Casteu said, ‰ÛÏI had a doubt about a way point and Chaleco reached me. We rolled together; the track was very fast and there so much dust and wind. I should not have been rolling so close to him, but we were having fun. We came to a creek, the wind stopped, the dust had weakened. I did not see a rock in the sand, and I crashed into it. I went over it with the bike, and the stand cut my thigh. I stepped aside and sent the tag alarm. I knew it was serious, and I was scared that the femoral artery was damaged but no, it is not that bad. It's just that my thigh was opened. The doctors waited until I fall asleep to check it. "Of course I am sorry not complete this Dakar, especially for my team but I am really pleased with the results we achieved. It is only the beginning of this adventure and I think already on the next rally!‰Û
