Darrin Treloar to ride Riverina Motor Cycle Long Track Cup

Posted:

Another reigning Australian champion has filed an entry for the return of motor cycle racing to the Yarragundry Park track near Wagga Wagga for the staging of the Riverina Long Track Cup meeting this Saturday, January 26. Sydney sidecar star Darrin Treloar has won four Australian and ten New South Wales Speedway Sidecar Championships, in recent years successes coming with regular passenger Justin Plaisted of Adelaide. At their last appearance at Yarragundry Park Treloar and Plaisted won the 2006 Australian Long Track Championship stamping them as favourites for Saturday's events. One team who may pose the biggest problems to Treloar and Plaisted is the Newcastle duo of Darren Caf̩ and passenger Don Morris who went close to beating former Australian champions Scott Christopher / Trent Koppe in the Gold Coast Cup meeting last weekend. Dual Australian long track champion, Craig Watson of Sydney will also face a tough challenge with the entry of Newcastle rider Strider Horton, who recently returned home after spending the past few years working for Australia's dual world speedway champion Jason Crump. Horton looked in good form until innocently involved in a crash during the Australian Long Track Championship meeting staged at Blayney back in November. As well as the sidecar and solo long track classes there will be plenty of variety on the program with regular dirt track classes for modern and classic machines as well as junior classes showcasing tomorrow's stars.
