Motorex KTM Factory racer Daniel McCoy and Choice Motorsports KTM racer Brenden Harrison have claimed their respective class championships at the conclusion of the 2013 AMH Queensland Supercross Championships held at the Howarth property in Leyburn on Saturday November the 9th.

McCoy who came into the final round of the two round championship trailing Campbell Mining Suzuki's Jake Moss was able to walk away with the series spoils with a win in the main event.

After finishing the main event at round one behind Moss, McCoy started round two off in the same fashion, finishing second to Moss in the opening heat before turning the tables in heat two taking the win himself.

After an early cash put Moss out of contention when the gates dropped on the final round of the new series that was co-promoted by Robbie Marshall and Robert Haworth, McCoy rode a solid race to finish four second ahead of second place Jacob Wright, who also finished 2nd for the championship, while Matt Howarth rounded out the podium for both the day and the series with a third place finish.

"It was good to win the Queensland State Supercross title, to win any title is a good feeling, to take any type of win on a motorcycle is a good feeling! McCoy enthused. "I put in a lot of work and it is good to see some results for all the effort you put in.

"There was some good competition out there, Jake at the first round I did not have much for him at all. In the first heat at round one I was there but apart from that he had me covered. Jacob, Matty and Sam Duncanson were all surprisingly very good and on pace.

"The second round was much the same, I was competitive with Jake in the first heat then I got on a roll after winning the second heat and took it from there."

While the win was important for McCoy in gaining some confidence and getting some valuable seat time in the lead up to the final round of the Australian Supercross Championship being held in Toowoomba this weekend, he was also impressed by the series and sees it as something that the sport of Supercross needs in Australia.

"It was a great series and exactly what the sport needs." McCoy continued. "There were two great tracks, Robbie and Matt done a great job of running the events and promoting the series, it is definitely going to get bigger in the future.

"There was some good sponsors on board backing it, there was a great atmosphere at both rounds and there is nothing bad you can say about it, they both done a really good job and I will definitely be back to do it again next year.

"I can't wait to get amongst it at the final round of the National Championship this weekend, I am coming off the back of a couple of good races so I am feeling confident, I feel good on the bike.

"I want to give it a good shot at this last round and see where we end up." McCoy concluded.

Brenden Harrison was unstoppable in the Pro Lites class. After winning the main event at the opening round of the series despite struggling to find his form during the day, Harrison put on a faultless display at round two, winning the opening heat of the day by 11 seconds from Taylor Potter and Heat two by a narrow 2 seconds ahead of Nick Sutherland.

When the main event got underway Harrison raced to the lead early but was starting to come under pressure from Nick Sutherland who finished second to Harrison at the opening round.

Unfortunately for the TM Racing Australia backed Sutherland a big crash ruled him put him out of the running leaving Harrison to race to a comfortable race win to wrap up the championship.

"I am so happy to get some wins, win the Queensland title and just have the chance to race my bike more and more, I am so happy," said and elated Harrison.

"The competition was good again, all the same guys were there from last week, but Nick Sutherland had a bit of bad luck and that kind of sucked. Everyone was riding well and it was another fun day.

"The track this weekend was massive, it was over one minute per lap, there were a heap of different options to take, the track really was awesome.

Like Pro Open winner McCoy, Harrison is keen to race the series again next year, but his immediate attention is focusing on the final round of the Australian Championship on November the 17th.

"100% I will be back to defend this title next year, if the entries were out now I would already have mine in," Harrison stated. "It was so much fun and the guys behind it did an awesome job and I can't wait for next year already.

"I have built a lot of confidence from the last two weekends, I have my starts sorted and have been able to work on things that I knew I needed to work on. But in saying that I will go into this round no different to any other race, I just want to race my dirt bike the best I can and see how I go," he concluded.

Taylor Potter who finished second to Harrison at round two, claimed second place in the Pro Lites overall standings while Wade Hunter claimed third place at the final round to secure third place in the championship.
