KTM Off-Road Team‰Ûªs Daniel ‰Û÷Chucky‰Ûª Sanders broke through for his first outright victory today at the opening round of the Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) at Kilkivan in Queensland.

Sanders, 21, who finished fourth in last year‰Ûªs outright championship said it was definitely a tough day.

‰ÛÏI knew that it was going to be the same sorts of tracks as last year, so I knew what to expect,‰Û

Rounding out the top three outright and the winner of the E2 class was Active8 Yamaha‰Ûªs Josh Green who finished with a total time of 46min21.562sec.

Green was a little bit disappointed with his day in the office, as he has had a really good off-season worth of training.

Green‰Ûªs first lap was good, but then he chucked it away on the second lap after hitting a rock, which cost him a fair bit of time and any chances of snaring the round win.

‰ÛÏIt was a petty to crash on the second lap,‰Û

Fourth outright and third in the E3 class was Green‰Ûªs teammate Beau Ralston. Ralston had an up-and-down day after he hit the deck two times which proved to cost him time.

His first get off was a just a little front end lose which was on his first lap, while on the fifth run he had a massive high side, which Ralston regarded that he was lucky to walk away from.

Ralston is still confident that he can get a top three finish tomorrow.

‰ÛÏI can defiantly get a top three tomorrow. There is no doubt there, I just have to put it all together on the day and make no mistakes,‰Û

Mitch Harper, Jack Simpson and Broc Grabham rounded out the top ten respectfully. In the Women‰Ûªs AORC it was Queenslanders very own Jemma Wilson taking the spoils, winning all six heats. The 2011 Women‰Ûªs AORC champion beat fellow Yamaha riders Emelie Karlsson and Tasmania‰Ûªs Sophie Coldicutt, while three times AORC champion Jess Gardiner, who is now back on a Yamaha for 2016 finished in fourth position. Rounding out the top five was the next best Queenslander in Tamara Gray.

Other class winners for round one included Jason Salopayevs (Masters), Kirk Hutton (Vets), while Mathew Pye took the glory in the J2 division, Jye Bennett was the winner in the J3 and Zak Mitten in the J4 class.
