Cudlin wins Endurance World Cup

Posted:

Australian Alex Cudlin has written his name in the history books of Australian Motorcycle sport, taking out the 2011 FIM Endurance World Cup in Doha.

The 24-year-old guided his team to a respectable eight place in the final round of the Endurance World Championship race, ensuring his ride was the first Endurance World Cup (Superstock class) bike across the line.

Cudlin, along with teammates Mashel Al Naimi and Anthony Delhalle recaptured the form that saw them take out the season-opening Le Mans 24 Hour, winning their second Superstock event of the year to wrap up the World Cup crown.

2010 has been a year to remember for Cudlin, with the as before mentioned Le Mans win kick-starting a career-defining season.

Solid performances on the Endurance World Cup circuit paved the way for the Aussie to earn a wildcard berth into the Australian leg of the Moto2 World Championship.

In front of friends and family at Phillip Island, Cudlin managed an impressive 30th place finish on his Qatar Moto2 bike in trying conditions.

In appears the performance at Phillip Island gave Cudlin the confidence heading into the season-defining final round, with a brilliant ride by the Qatar Endurance Racing Team (QERT) over the eight hour race sealing the title.
