Crump Makes Track Return To Olympic Park Speedway

Posted:

Three-times Speedway World Champion, Jason Crump, will make a rare riding appearance at Olympic Park Speedway later this month to celebrate the Speedway career of Sunraysian racer, Mark Lemon who has been granted a farewell meeting on Friday 30th January.

Lemon, who has been a servant to the sport for 25-years as both rider and now Australian Speedway Team Manager has been granted a farewell meeting by the Mildura Motorcycle Club to mark the end of his professional racing career which began in Sunraysia. Lemon, who last competed for domestic club Redcar Bears in the UK in 2014, will race for the last time around Olympic Park at his farewell meeting.

Both Lemon and Crump grew up as friends and would often ride their motorbikes around the Mallee scrub when they were junior speedway competitors. In their late teens, both headed to Europe to ply their trade as professionals with Crump going on to compete at the highest level, winning three Speedway World Championships. Crump, who hasn‰Ûªt ridden at Mildura Speedway since 2009, will don his race suit and cut up some laps on Mildura‰Ûªs famous shale.

‰ÛÏWhen Mark asked me to be part of his farewell meeting; I couldn‰Ûªt decline." Crump said. "It‰Ûªs great that the Motorcycle Club have granted such a good servant to the sport a meeting and I hope he get the great turn-out he deserves. I‰Ûªm looking forward to returning to Mildura and having another blast around a track for what will hopefully be a top night for Lemo.‰Û
