Courtney Knight ready to take on Australia’s best

Posted:

Queensland's Courtney Knight has been in fine form in the lead up to the 2011 Australian Women's Motocross Championships set to be held at the Coolum Pines MX track on Saturday the 27th of August.

Already this year, Knight has had great success with her racing, winning the Australian Long Track Titles, the Queensland Women's Motocross Championships and taking out the Instant Security Alarms Go Girls series with maximum points.

The 17 year old Yamaha rider came face-to-face with the current Australian Women's Motocross Champion Kristy Gillespie at the Queensland Titles earlier this year. Over the 2 days, Knight proved to be too strong for Gillespie, winning 4 of the 5 races.

"I was overwhelmed when I beat Kristy back in April, just knowing I had beaten the best in the country gave me a huge confidence boost", Said Knight

With this year's Australian Women's Motocross Titles being held in Queensland, Knight is hoping to use her home state advantage to help her gain a top 3 finish.

"My main goal this year is to do better than I did last year, which is to get a podium position"

"I am happy with the amount of effort I have been putting into my riding to prepare myself for this year's titles and I really believe I can get on the box this year"

"But at the end of the day all that matters is that I walk away safe and happy knowing I have given 100%", Knight concluded.
