Cougar Bourbon Honda Thor racers prepare for penultimate Super X round in Sydney

Posted:

With just two rounds remaining, the Cougar Bourbon Honda Thor Racing team are feeling the pressure as they head into round six of Super X at Sydney's Parramatta Stadium tomorrow night.

All three riders are looking to salvage valuable championship points at tomorrow night's event following a disappointing run in the muddy conditions at New Zealand's Carisbrook Stadium last weekend.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Open class rider Dan Reardon maintained his fifth place championship standing with another top ten round result and said he was feeling confident about taking on the quad challenge at tomorrow's event.

"I was pretty unhappy with last weekend's result but I'm feeling confident I can pick up the pace this weekend," Reardon said.

"I feel really good on the bike and am hoping I can improve from last weekend.

"There are only two rounds to go and the competition it going to be fierce, so I'm hoping I can gain some good points before the final round in Brisbane.

Team-mate and fellow Open class rider Todd Waters finished sixth overall last weekend and sits sixth, seven points behind Reardon in the championship standings.

The 20-year-old said he will aim to better his previous results.

"I drove out to Burke to stay with Tye Simmonds and spent the week out there doing some training, which was really good," Waters said.

"I'm looking to put last weekend behind me and better my previous results. I want to have a good round this weekend and continue it through to Brisbane.

"I prefer the longer races but I think I'm ready for tomorrow's format, so it should be fun," he added.

Currently 11th in the championship with 98 points, Lites rider Kade Mosig will have to battle through the Survival race format if he is to claw his way back to the top 10.

The rider said he has fully recovered following last weekend's collision and is eager to hit the track.

"I flew back to New Zealand and had a couple days off. I got landed on in the second race last weekend and ended up in hospital, so I was pretty sore," Mosig said.

"I've been having physio to get my body right for tomorrow where I'm hoping to get a good start and get on the podium.

"I haven't done the Survival race format yet so it's an unknown for me. I prefer the traditional 15 lap race but it's good to mix it up and keep it cool for the fans. It's definitely going to be interesting," he added.
