Contracts awarded for 2006 Australian Supercross and Motocross Championships

Posted:

Following a wide-ranging consultation process, the Board of Motorcycling Australia (MA) has awarded the contractual rights to the 2006 Australian Supercross and Motocross Championships to Spokes Promotions and Williams Event Management (WEM) respectively. Both organisations already have long-standing associations with their respective disciplines, and have now been offered fresh mandates to continue developing their hitherto successful products. "Motorcycling Australia received a number of proposals to promote both championships, and only after an exhaustive review process ‰ÛÒ which included widespread industry consultation ‰ÛÒ did the MA Board make its final decision," said MA CEO, David White. "On behalf of the MA Board, I would like to congratulate Spokes Promotions and WEM on their appointments, and wish them all the best for next year and beyond." Spokes Promotions has been awarded the rights to the supercross championship for the next three years, while the Kevin Williams-managed WEM has been handed the motocross reins until the end of the 2007 season. "We are very excited about the opportunity to further develop the motocross championship," said Williams. "After the Australian supermoto title wraps up this weekend, WEM‰Ûªs sole focus will now be on motocross, and we will put all our energies into making it an even bigger success. "I am delighted to be extending our partnership with MA and the motorcycle industry, and we will work hard to make 2006 a huge year." The calendars for both championships will now be released within the next two weeks.
