Coenen Brothers Commit Future to Red Bull KTM with New Multi-Year Deal

Lucas Coenen and Sacha Coenen have signed a new multi-year deal with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, locking in their futures as they target MXGP and MX2 title challenges in 2026.

Belgian twin talents Lucas Coenen and Sacha Coenen have secured their racing futures by signing a new multi-year contract with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, continuing their rapid rise through the international motocross ranks.

The 19-year-old brothers enjoyed breakout campaigns in 2025, registering Grand Prix victories across both MXGP and MX2 competition, and are now poised to mount serious championship challenges in 2026. Lucas will again campaign the KTM 450 SX-F in MXGP, while Sacha continues in MX2 aboard the KTM 250 SX-F.

Lucas enters the new term off the back of a stellar progression over the past two seasons. After finishing runner-up in the 2024 MX2 World Championship, he stepped up to the premier MXGP class in 2025 and immediately impressed, claiming six race wins – becoming the youngest ever premier class victor in the process – along with 14 podium finishes and another P2 result in the final standings.

On the MX2 side, Sacha completed his second full-time season in 2025 and continued to build momentum, banking two overall victories and collecting 10 trophies across the year. The 2025 season also marked the first time both brothers worked under the guidance of Davide De Carli and his Rome-based Red Bull KTM Factory Racing De Carli squad.

Lucas said he was pleased to extend his stay with the Austrian manufacturer, explaining, “Really pleased to extend my contract with Red Bull KTM and the goal for 2026 is to give the best account of myself every weekend. I want to thank the factory and the team for believing in me and my family, and for doing their best to understand the plan for my career. We know our objectives and will chase them as hard as we can.”

Sacha echoed that enthusiasm for the future, stating, “I’m really happy to sign again with Red Bull KTM but before we think too much ahead; I have to say I am really looking forward to 2026. We’ve made some good steps and I think we are ready to show everybody that we can ride at the front and battle for the world championship. We’ve improved the bike and we’re quite strong. More to come!”

Team Manager Davide De Carli underlined how important the brothers are to the program, adding, “I’m very happy to continue working with Lucas and Sacha for the future. It’s always been a dream for me to have them in our team. I believe that together we can combine our skills and make them shine on the track to write another page in KTM’s history. Our passion for racing drives us to improve every day in every aspect and we are always ready for new challenges. We are ‘ready to race’!”

KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer also spoke highly of the duo and their long-term potential within the organisation, commenting, “Lucas and Sacha are special talents, each with their own strengths but with the common bond of a passionate and committed family. It was important for us to maintain our story and journey together at the highest levels of the sport and for 2026 that means an exciting season in both MXGP and MX2 and then seeing where we can put targets. They are both still very young but have already set a standard. It will be fun to see what they can do next.”
