Chase Sexton has been forced to withdraw from Team USA ahead of next weekend’s 2025 FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN), following his season-ending crash at the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Final.

The Illinois native had been selected to line up in the MXGP class on home soil at Ironman Raceway, Indiana, with the prestigious event set to run from October 3-5. Sexton, who is 26, was part of the winning U.S. squad that claimed the Chamberlain Trophy at RedBud in 2022, but for the second consecutive year, he will be sidelined from representing his country due to injury.

His crash came during 450SMX Moto 2 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday evening. After going down, Sexton was diagnosed with a mild concussion and is set to undergo further scans to determine the extent of a potential shoulder injury.

With his withdrawal confirmed, the U.S. lineup for Ironman remains unsettled. Justin Cooper and RJ Hampshire have already pledged their support to the team, while Haiden Deegan is in a battle for full fitness after a collar bone injury sustained at the same event as Sexton.

Sexton’s exit leaves a major hole in Team USA’s campaign, particularly as he was expected to lead the charge in the premier class at a home event.

With Ironman less than two weeks away, speculation continues on how the final American roster will come together.
