Charli Cannon is looking to make history at the MXGP of Darwin, taking on the Women’s Motocross World Championship on home soil as she chases her first World Championship podium.

The stage is set for history as the MXGP of Darwin brings the Women’s Motocross World Championship to Australia for the first time ever and Charli Cannon is ready to take on the world’s best on home soil.

Cannon, already a four-time Australian Motocross Champion, has continued to grow as both a competitor and an athlete, overcoming injury setbacks and the challenges of a completed season in America, where she finished an impressive runner-up in the highly competitive AMA Women’s Motocross Championship.

“It’s been a year of lessons, racing injured, winning and losing races, and learning from it all,” said Cannon. “I’m grateful for the people around me. Quad Lock, SCT Logistics, FLY, Honda, and all of my supporters have stood by me. Without them, I wouldn’t be racing in Darwin or in America.”

While Cannon has raced select WMX GPs before, Darwin represents her chance to chase a milestone she has yet to achieve: a World Championship podium.

“I’ve never been on the podium or won a WMX World Championship race, but that’s the goal,” Cannon continued. “I’m still not 100% after surgery, but I’ve been training harder than ever at MTF with Colleen Millsaps in America. It’s a process, the improvements don’t come overnight, but I already feel stronger and more prepared than ever.”

In America, Cannon overcame injury setbacks to finish an impressive runner-up in the highly competitive AMA Women’s Motocross Championship, showcasing her growth as both a competitor and an athlete.

The MXGP of Darwin is more than just another race. It’s the final stop of the championship, the first MXGP ever staged in Darwin, and the return of the MXGP to Australia after more than twenty years.

Yarrive Konsky, Director of Honda Racing Australia, underscored the significance of the event:

“Australia is fortunate to host a round of the MXGP, providing our riders with the opportunity to compete against the very best in the world. Charli has overcome significant challenges this season and still delivered outstanding results. I truly believe she has what it takes to achieve her goals in Darwin. None of this would be possible without the support of Honda Australia, Quad Lock, SCT Logistics, FLY, Berry Sweet, Polyflor, North Star Pastoral and our valued partners, for which we are extremely grateful.”

For Quad Lock, who take title rights to Cannon’s entry in Darwin, the event represents more than competition, it symbolizes the rising profile of women in motorsport.

“We’ve seen Charli’s determination firsthand,” said Dom Storey, Quad Lock Head of Sports Marketing. “From her fourth consecutive Australian title to challenging America’s best, she’s proven she belongs on the world stage. Her resilience after surgery is inspiring, and everyone at Quad Lock is proud to support Charli, Honda, and the growth of women in motorsport.”

Charli Cannon has already cemented her status as one of Australia’s top riders with four Australian Motocross Championship titles to her name.

With the world watching and history being made in Darwin, Charli Cannon is chasing more than just results, she’s racing for a place among the best in the world, and for the continued rise of women in motocross and Honda is proud to support chase for glory on home soil.

Peter Singleton, Vice President of Honda Australia, praised Charli’s accomplishments and the broader impact women riders are having on the sport.

“Charli, along with her fellow competitors from around the world, has played a tremendous role in raising the profile of women in motorsport. Everyone at Honda is incredibly proud of her achievements, and we are fully behind her as she chases glory on home soil,” said Singleton.
