Chad Reed ready for Anaheim AMA Supercross opener

Next Saturday night Australian Supercross Champion, former World Champion and AMA Champion Chad Reed will start his campaign for the 2010 AMA Monster Energy Title when the season kicks off at the traditional Anaheim 1 opener at Anaheim, California. After a slow start to the Australian Championship the 27-year-old hit top form as the series closed and was back to his championship form completely dominating his opposition. Reeds slow start can be attributed to a change of brand in the weeks before the opening round. Once he became more familiar with his new Kawasaki he looked as fast as he ever has. When the fireworks die down on Saturday night and the gate drops Reed will once again go head to head with his nemesis, James Stewart, Stewart the current AMA champion has stated he is also ready for round one but the factory Yamaha rider had to withdraw from racing in Australia due to illness and there has not been much word on his preparation for the opening round. Besides Stewart, Reed faces a tough season with a wall of younger talent all snapping at his heals. Riders like last years opening round winner Josh Grant, Davi Millsaps and his own Monster Energy Kawasaki team-mate Ryan Villopoto all eager to put him behind them. At 27 Reed could now be considered a veteran in the sport with very few riders continuing on into their 30's. "I'm enjoying it, enjoying life," Reed told Keith Lair from the Pasadena Star . "It's been like these last two weeks have been dragging. I'm ready to go." "I think I'm just getting better the older I get," he said. "I still love the sport and I have a lot of experience. I still look forward to every season. When it gets to the point where I don't, then it's time to stop. But I'm enjoying it every day."
