Chad Reed out of AUS-X Open

Posted:

Chad Reed out of AUS-X Open It would appear that the ankle injury that sidelined Chad Reed from the Red Bull Straight Rhythm last Saturday in Pomona, Calif, is a lot worse than first thought.

Reed injured the ankle when he over jumped a jump during practice for the event.

Promoters of the Monster Energy AUS-X Open, AME, said via Instagram that Reed would not be able to compete but would still attend the event, which Reed himself confirmed.

"We‰Ûªve been working with @crtwotwo since his ankle injury, to explore every possibility about riding the Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney.

"Today we got the final word that he cannot ride in time for NOV 11 & 12, after his surgery today. "The good news is, Chad Reed is still coming down under to be involved in the event as much as possible! What a legend!"

Reed himself posted:

"I've been slow on the unfortunate news in respect to @ausxopen. The one race on my calendar I look forward to most is the Sydney @ausxopen This years race was always going to have its challenges but nothing I wasn't up for, Unfortunately my slight over jump last week resulted in two fractures to my ankle (talus), I saw my specialist and the best chance at a healthy fast recovery was to do surgery.

"So unfortunately I won't be able to compete in two weeks time BUT I'll make the trip down to see as many fans as possible

"As for 2018, The goal remains the same! A1"
