Celebrate And Farewell Iconic Australasian Safari

Posted:

On Friday September 19, a hundred local and international off-road rally competitors will converge on Wanneroo Showgrounds to say goodbye to the cityscape, before spending a week tackling tough terrain in the Western Australian outback.

For these seasoned Auto, Moto, Quad and SxS competitors it will be a whirlwind tour, as they race through 3,500kms of Western Australia‰Ûªs most stunning coastal, pastoral and outback landscapes - stopping in at Geraldton, Murchison, Gascoyne Junction, Exmouth, Carnarvon and Kalbarri along the way.

Competitors will then cross the Ceremonial Finish Line at Kalbarri Foreshore, with the victors taking to the podium for the traditional motorsport champagne spray.

With 2014 being the final Australasian Safari, spectators are encouraged to take advantage of this last chance to celebrate and farewell one of Australia‰Ûªs toughest motorsport competitions.

The week‰Ûªs activities start with a media call. A selection of competitors from all categories will be available to the media for interviews and photos. Among the racing talent this year, we have international competitors from countries Botswana, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, Thailand, and United States, many of which have competed in renowned events like Dakar and Baja.

For a media kit please contact Lauren Cornes at lauren@australasiansafari.com.au.

The Safari Show is a family-friendly event hosted by the City of Wanneroo. The show gives motorsport fans an exciting chance to experience the legendary Safari atmosphere, before competitors head out into the outback for seven days of gruelling racing action.

Spectators will be able to meet and greet competitors, and get up close to their tough 4WD‰Ûªs, motorbikes, quadbikes and side-by-side vehicles.

The Ceremonial Start is the formal part of the Safari Show. Starting at 6pm, competitors will line-up under the Safari Archway to be introduced, and then cheered on their way by spectators.

The Safari Show will be held at Wanneroo Showground, Ariti Ave, Wanneroo from 4pm to 9pm on Friday Septermber the 19th with free entry for all.
