Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki has bolstered its line-up for the 2026 Australian Supercross Championship, confirming the signing of experienced French Supercross specialist Cedric Soubeyras.
The French rider will contest the full 2026 AUSX Championship with the team, bringing a wealth of international experience gained from competing at the highest levels of Supercross across Europe and around the world.
Soubeyras has built a strong reputation throughout his career for his technical riding ability, consistency and experience in the tight, demanding conditions that Supercross is renowned for. His addition adds another proven international name to the Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki program as the team prepares for what is shaping up to be a highly competitive 2026 season.
Team owner Tyson Cherry believes the signing will be a valuable addition to the squad’s championship ambitions.
Cherry said the team was looking forward to welcoming Soubeyras to Australia and tapping into the experience he brings from years of international competition.
“We’re really excited to have Cedric joining us for AUSX,” Cherry explained. “He brings a huge amount of Supercross experience and we know how competitive he can be in this environment.”
With the 2026 championship set to feature a strong field across both Australia and New Zealand, Cherry believes the Frenchman can make an immediate impact.
“The 2026 championship is shaping up to be a big one and we’re looking forward to getting Cedric over here, getting to work and seeing what we can achieve together,” he added.
For Soubeyras, the move marks another opportunity to build on his previous experience racing in Australia.
The Frenchman said he enjoyed his time in the championship last season and is eager to return with a fresh challenge aboard the Kawasaki machinery.
“I felt really good in the championship last year, even though I was a newcomer and still learning the bike,” Soubeyras said. “I had a great time, and with this new opportunity, I’m really motivated.”
Despite having limited time on the bike before the opening round, Soubeyras is confident he already understands the strengths of the Kawasaki package.
“It’s going to give me an extra push during my training throughout the week,” he continued. “I’ll only get on the Kawasaki a couple of days before the first race, but I already know how good this bike is, having raced it in 2024 and 2025.”
The Frenchman is already looking forward to linking up with the team and Australian fans when the gates drop on the new season.
“I’m really excited for this new challenge and can’t wait to see you all there!” he added.
The 2026 Australian Supercross Championship will see Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki contest rounds across Australia and New Zealand, with Soubeyras set to make his debut for the team when the series gets underway.
