Cairoli and Herlings win Valkenswaard qualification races
The 2012 season has finally started in the sandy track of Valkenswaard and Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings have won the MX1 and MX2 qualifying races respectively.

The MX1 class was clearly dominated by Cairoli, but Clement Desalle and Steven Frossard also proved that they can fight for the victory tomorrow. Evgeny Bobryshev had to pull out of the race after he landed on a wooden stick at the beginning of the race and his bike resulting in a heavily damaged bike.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Cairoli did not have a good start in the qualifying race, but he quickly managed to move up and got the lead already in lap four. The Italian has always had good results in Valkenswaard and is ready to start the championship with the red plate on his KTM.

In second position was Rockstar Energy Suzuki World's Desalle, who proved that he is completely recovered from both shoulder injuries after starting from ninth position.

Monster Energy Yamaha's Frossard got the holeshot in the qualifying race and he led the heat during the first three laps, but he then started suffering from arm pump and had to settle for third position.

Fourth place went to for Monster Energy Yamaha's Philippaerts, who was back in the MXGP after his injury on both wrists last year. The Italian is fully motivated for this 2012 season and he has showed to his rivals that he is back again determined to get more GP wins and fight for the Title.

Herlings crashed twice during the race, but he managed to cross the finish line with more than 25 seconds advantage over second placed Jeremy Van Horebeek.

Tommy Searle finished the race in third place ahead of Jake Nicholls in 4th, who spent a good portion of the race leading the way.
