With national racing on hold due to the Covid situation, Penrite Honda's Brett Metcalfe returned to state level racing full time in 2020, delighting his home town state fans, and also giving the younger generation of South Australian racers a great way to mark themselves against a world class competitor.
Metcalfe was unstoppable across all three championship rounds, and while the likes of Mitch Norris were able to steal the majority of holeshots and even lead Metcalfe for the occasional lap early in the race, the veteran rider always had the answer racing away to a clean sweep of 18 moto wins across both the MX1 Pro class and the Veterans A class.
‰ÛÏIts been almost 20 years since I last competed in our state championship and to win 18 races from 18 starts and two championships this year in front of my kids is priceless, to share it with them has been really special." Metcalfe enthused.
"The last time I raced the championship I was just a kid so it‰Ûªs really come full circle as my kids also raced the championship. Overall, it has been an amazing time for my family and I."
