Brett Metcalfe leads Canadian MX Championship heading in to round three

Posted:

The Western leg of Monster Energy Canadian Motocross Nationals heads to Wild Rose MX Park in Calgary this weekend with Australia's Brett Metcalfe primed for another 1-1 round result.

After the two opening rounds of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals in British Columbia, the Pro Tour heads to Alberta, where Wild Rose MX Park in Calgary will host Round 3 of the MX1 and MX2 points chase Sunday, June 16th.

Wild Rose MX Park, which has hosted national rounds since 2001, is known for its challenging jumps and supercross style obstacles. I

With Red Bull/Fox/Royal Distributing/KTM‰Ûªs Colton Facciotti out of the mix ‰ÛÒ due to his unfortunate get-off in Kamloops, which resulted in a broken leg and hand after three other riders unavoidably struck him, the big question is who can stop Monster Energy/Parts Canada/Leading Edge Kawasaki‰Ûªs Brett Metcalfe

Metcalfe, who was ranked by the pundits along with Facciotti as an odds-on-favourite to win the 2013 MX1 title hunt, showed his mettle in Kamloops with a convincing clean sweep of the motos. Unfortunately, these two great athletes will not be facing each other again this season and we will never know who of the two would prevail.

‰ÛÏI thought it was good. From last week we went back and we did a lot of work and I had a really good day of testing. We made quite a few changes and I felt a lot more comfortable," Metcalfe stated in regards to his race bike after round two of the championship last weekend.

"In the first moto, I got a good start and I was able to get into the lead on, I think, the first lap. I was just being patient waiting for the track to kind of break in and then Colton (Facciotti) was right on me.

"He tried to make a move and I could see the way that he was riding ‰ÛÒ he was wanting to do something, so right then and there when he did that I picked it up and I was like, ‰ÛÏOK, it‰Ûªs time to go‰Û
