Brett Metcalfe Endures Mixed Day At Wild Rose MX

Posted:

After a solid start to the Canadian Motocross season at the first two rounds in British Columbia, Brett Metcalfe and the Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki team rolled into the prairie city of Calgary, Alberta for round three.

Metcalfe aboard his KX450F who lead the championship into the third round was once again the rider to beat as the 2013 Champion worked his way into the lead both motos.

Unfortunatley for the Australian a 1st moto mechanical while leading, left him with no choice but to retire from the race, leaving American Vince Friese to take the race win.

With no shortage of motivation going into moto two Metcalfe rode a solid race to grab the lead and take his third moto win of the season. The result left him down in 11th place for the day due to the first race DNF, that also cost him the red championship leaders plate.

Friese secured the round win ahead of fellow American Cole Thompson and Canadian Colton Facciotti.

After three rounds of the 9 round series American Matt Georke leads the championship standings on 142 points, ahead of Facciotti and Thompson, with Metcalfe slipping back to third in the points race, 14 points behind Georke.
