Brad Williscroft on the road to recovery following knee surgery

Posted:

Motorex Shift KTM Off Road racer Brad Williscroft has undergone surgery following a knee injury whilst chasing the outright win at the 2007 Finke Desert Race earlier in the month. With damage to his Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) and Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) Williscroft underwent surgery last week for a full knee reconstruction which involved taking hamstring muscle grafts to replace the PCL. Now on the road to recovery, doctors believe it will take at least four months of rehabilitation to see Williscroft back competing with Motorex Shift KTM Off-Road Racing. Commenting on the operation and his plans over the next few months Williscroft said, ‰ÛÏDoctors said the operation was a success after a fair bit of work, and I can tell it was intense because the pain sure was coming out of surgery. ‰ÛÏI have to wear a knee brace, which will likely be on for up to six weeks, before I can start physio for rehabilitation. ‰ÛÏAlthough doctors say I will be off the bike for at least four months, I doubt I will compete in any major event until next year. I don‰Ûªt want to come back until I‰Ûªm 100 per cent fit and capable of racing at an elite level for KTM. ‰ÛÏI still plan to get out amongst it all on the enduro scene in the very near future to support my fellow team mates Jehi Willis and Ben Kearney at Motorex Shift KTM Off-Road Racing. ‰ÛÏThey have the A4DE and Hattah Desert Race coming up, so I‰Ûªm aiming to attend both of those events to sign autographs for the fans, and offer any racing support that Jehi or Ben may require. ‰ÛÏI won the Hattah Desert Race last year so I will definitely be going to that event again to help Jehi (Willis) or Ben (Kearney) with some sideline tips. I‰Ûªm planning on getting a four wheeler out there so I can do some pit boarding for them to offer encouragement whilst they‰Ûªre racing.‰Û
