On his return to the HRC MX2 squad, compatriot Jed Beaton got caught up with tricky track conditions in Assen as well.
Beaton ended the race in 17th place. The bad weather had left the track sodden, creating deep ruts in the sand that swallowed the bikes. Beaton initially got off to a good start and was running in 12th place for the early part of the race. Unfortunately during a push for 11th place, he crashed and fell back to 24th place. Digging himself out of the sand, he remounted his CRF250RW and pushed back to a 17th place finish.
"Qualifying wasn‰Ûªt so bad, I got off to a good start for once but fell off in the second lap and dropped back to 24th," Beaton explained. "I ended up coming back to 17th, fell again but didn‰Ûªt lose any positions this time. I can take a lot of positives from this, I put in some good laps which. I put in a good start and had some good laps compared to practice and timed practice today so I hope I can do the same tomorrow."
There is more bad weather expected overnight which could create a new set of challenges in tomorrow‰Ûªs race. The first MX2.
