Australia’s motorcycle market has recorded a strong first half of 2026, with sales increasing 8.2 per cent compared with the same period last year.
A total of 46,023 motorcycles were sold between January and June 2026, up from 42,549 units during the first six months of 2025.
Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries chief executive Tony Weber said the figures reflected renewed strength across key areas of the market.
“The strongest growth has come from the off-road segment, which has continued to improve over recent months and is now driving the overall market result,” Weber said.
Growth in the off-road category was led by the kids and trail segments, which increased by 32 per cent and 131 per cent respectively.
Off-highway vehicle (OHV) sales remained largely unchanged from the same period last year, with 6,764 units sold in the first half of 2026 compared with 6,760 in the corresponding period of 2025.
“While off-road motorcycles were the standout performer, the broader market remains stable, with road motorcycles and OHVs tracking close to last year’s levels,” Weber added.
The scooter segment was the only category to decline, recording a 2.7 per cent drop compared with the first half of 2025.
