Australian Enduro X series announced for 2006

Posted:

Southern Cross Promotions (SCP), organisers of the successful Australian Motorcycle Expo in Melbourne, have announced the establishment of a national Stadium Enduro X䋢 (Cross) series in Australia for 2006. The Enduro Cross format brings together all the elements of off-road riding in an action packed arena environment to create one of the most exciting spectator sports. The popularity of the format is quickly growing internationally with a strong following in Europe and the United States. The Enduro Cross track layout involves combining a motocross type course with various obstacles found in everyday riding like water and log crossings, sand, rock and heavily rutted sections. The announcement of the national series follows the highly successful Yamaha Stadium Enduro X event held recently in conjunction with the 2005 Australian Motorcycle Expo in Melbourne. The event captured the imagination of fans that were continually enthralled by the non-stop action throughout the entire track. "It was like no other motorcycle event I have ever seen", said SCP Director Mark Petersen. "Every person in the crowd was captivated, they were cheering and laughing and going crazy as riders negotiated the technical track layout". The series is set to become a feature of the 2006 off-road motorcycle calendar and SCP is committed to its success. The series will feature riders from all disciplines of motorcycle racing including, motocross, supercross and enduro categories on unique tracks that will test their respective skills and abilities. "During the recent Enduro X event and immediately following the feedback has been amazing, with industry representatives, riders and fans alike claiming the concept a huge success", commented Petersen. "The Enduro X format embraces the most popular category of motorcycle riding in Australia, off-road riding, and directly connects with largest segment of the motorcycle market". At this stage all dates and venues for the series are still to be finalised with details to be confirmed within the next two weeks. However it can be confirmed that two rounds will be held in October 2006 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in conjunction with the Australian Motorcycle Expo. "SCP continues to invest significantly in the motorcycle industry towards establishing the motorcycle expo as an internationally recognised event and this philosophy will also be adopted in respect of launching the Enduro X series", said Petersen.
