Australian Andy McLiesh dominates FIM Asia Supermoto in the Philippines

30,000 spectators watched on as Australian Andy McLiesh capitalised on his pole position to win both motos at Round 3 of the FIM Asia Supermoto Championship at Angeles City in the Philippines last weekend.

Moto 1 saw McLiesh grab the holeshot and spend the remainder of the race unchallenged. McLiesh once again hit the front in moto 2 but came under pressure from championship leader Gabit and Matsumoto. McLiesh made an uncharacteristic error by going too deep into Turn One, causing his inside footpeg to snag a sand bag and dragging it onto the middle of the track. Gabit and Matsumoto had to slow to avoid running into the hazard, allowing McLiesh to once again open up a gap. While Gabit and Matsumoto battled it out for the podium positions McLiesh once again headed to the finish line un-challenged and in so doing, notched up the perfect weekend with a pair of wins.
