The 2013 FIM Team Speedway World Championship Under 21 Final was contested in the Czech Republic town of Pardubice last weekend.
Denmark (42points) won the Championship by the narrowest of margins from runners up placed Poland on 41 points. Hosts, Czech Republic claimed the remaining rostrum spot on 24 points with Australia taking the 4th and last place on 20 points.
Australian Speedway Team Manager, Mark Lemon, said, "Whilst Denmark and Poland thrashed it for the lead and the title it was the host nation giving us a run for our money as we battled for the remaining Bronze medal."
"Like last year's final (in Poland) the guys are experiencing the big wide open circuits in Europe and with the only exception of current Speedway Grand Prix rider and Captain of the under 21 team Darcy Ward, the young guns lack time and experience which requires different types of bike and engine set ups from what they regularly used to when racing at home in Australia and in the UK where they spend 7 months of the year.
"It was a great effort just to reach the final from the hard fought Semi in Germany earlier in the year. This event has proved to be a big learning curve." Lemon concluded.
