Aussies put on a solid show at Loretta Lynn’s

Posted:

Young Australian's Brock Fayle, Hayden Melross and Luke Clout raced the 30th Annual Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented by Amsoil, at the legendary Loretta Lynn's Ranch last week with mixed results.

It was a hot week at Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, where America's best amateur riders not only battled each other but also 40 degree temperatures.

Brock Fayle had a solid start to the event sitting in 9th overall after the first two 450 modified class motos.

Unfortunately he had no luck in the final moto. He had a good start and was in a position to finish inside the top ten and had just recorded his fastest lap of the week when a rider went down in front of him.

As Brock went by the riders pants got hooked on his foot peg. He had to stop, get off his bike and lay it down to detach the unwanted histchiker. Back racing he had lost 15 positions. He fought back passing 6 riders which gave him 11 overall in the 450 mod class.

He was pretty disappointed missing out on a top ten finish but considering he had only been able to train 3 week prior to Loretta's after suffering a shoulder injury he should hold his head high.

Hayden Mellross unfortunately cashed out in his final moto in the 250 modified class after finishing a strong 4th in moto 2.

Luke Clout had three strong moto's to finish 6th overall in the 250 stock class.

Fayle will return to Millsaps Training Facility following Loretta's to pack his gear and then head back home to Canberra after two years at MTF.

Each class has the fastest 42 riders in the US on the grid so it's always going to be a tough week.
