Aussie Trial des Nations team start GoFundme Page to get to 2016 event

Posted:

In 2015 all sports under Motorcycling Australia have had a loss of funding, MA are not at fault but can only offer a small amount of support financially, maybe 10k at best.

The Australian Trial des Nations team usually takes around 50k to happen each year with around a 3k contribution on top of that from each rider, minder and manager.

For Australia to send a full strength team of 10 as per usual this year they need 7 riders plus two minders and a manager to all front around 8 thousand dollars which, unfortunately, is un-affordable for the majority of the candidates.

Details are yet to be confirmed but without full funding it is expected that minders will be scraped from the budget. Team manager, Phil Whittle, who is committed to supporting the riders, but he is a crucial role to success and the team don‰Ûªt want him to go without any financial support.

Team member and GoFundme campaign manager Kyle Middleton said, "The team have built great success over the last decade with our team results and riders capabilities, really starting to take it to the Europeans with a mens podium last year but if we don‰Ûªt send a team this year we risk losing what we have built up. So this is why we are asking for Australia‰Ûªs support."

"Let‰Ûªs make this clear, any rider who applies this year will need to pay more than usual, we are thinking an extra 2.5k, a total of around 5k roughly for each rider, so we aren‰Ûªt asking for a free trip for our team members, we are asking for the support to make the trip possible, If we don‰Ûªt get help, we might not be able to send a full team. We are under the impression that the team will get the funding back for next year so we hope to only ask this of you once.

"We don‰Ûªt want to just ask for money either, so we have come up with a system of gifts that you will receive for your donation," Middleton concluded.
