20 year old Australian rider Emerson Atkins has qualified for the world biggest amateur motocross event, Loretta Lynn's in the United States of America.

Qualifying for in both the 250cc and 450cc Limited classes on the day of his 20th birthday, Atkins was pumped to make a dream come true.

"I was on vacation with my family in the USA in 2011 and incorporated a weeks training at MTF while we were there." Atkins stated. "This was meant to be a one off treat but it only fed my desire to go back and do full time training.

"I made a deal with my parents that if I finished doing my HSC and saved for the yearly fee then they would help fund the rest.

With hard work Atkins achieved this in time to start the 2012/2013 season at MTF.

"The qualifying process was not easy; it sure does sort the men from the boys." Atkins continued. "You really have to earn your spot at Loretta‰Ûªs.

Unlike so many other riders that have qualified Emerson has been on his own all of this year during the qualifying process and that has been hard on him. Recently his mate arrived over there to help him out which has been a big help to the rider who hails from Newcastle, N.S.W.

Atkins hopes for Loretta's are for a podium finish, though at the same time, just making it to the event is a great achievement.

"At this stage just starting at Loretta‰Ûªs is a great achievement, considering the thousands of riders who have tried to qualify. At this stage my aim for Loretta‰Ûªs is a podium finish! That would be just perfect," he concluded.
