The opening round of the 2015 Italian Motocross Championship kicked off over the weekend with HRC Honda's Gautier Paulin joining the Factory Red Bull KTM pair of Antonio Cairoli and Pauls Jonass in Victory lane.

It was Paulin who got the day of to the best possible start winning the MX1 race ahead of Cairoli with Factory Yamaha's Jeremy Van Horebeek in third place. The Australian duo of Dean Ferris and Todd Waters both had their troubles in the MX1 race finishing 14th and 15th respectivley.

In the MX 2 race it was Jonass who who got his 2015 season off to a flying start leading home Jeremy Seewer and Vsevolod Brylaykov.

In the Elite race that combines the top 20 MX1 and MX2 rider, it was Cairoli who delivered a spectacular race where he had claimed an eleven-second lead in the opening four laps. The Italian stayed out in front and right through the race accrued more and more advantage on the other riders, eventually crossing the line almost 26 seconds ahead of Paulin who had to work his way through the field after a bad start.

‰ÛÏThis is the kind of track that is always very technical and its great to race here in the pre-season races." Cairoli stated. "I had a good first race to finish second. For sure there is still some work to do but that‰Ûªs normal for the first race of the season.

"I feel good with the bike but I still feel a bit from my small injury at the Motocross of Nations. It‰Ûªs not one hundred percent but I feel good and I try to build up some muscle to make the leg a bit stronger to be ready for Qatar. That‰Ûªs our goal.‰Û
