Angus Reekie dominates Supermoto at Oran Park

Perfect conditions greeted riders and spectators for Round 2 of the Supermoto mayhem Cup presented by Hogs Breath Cafe Narellan at Oran Park Raceway.

Young Gun Angus Reekie showed he will be a force to be reckoned with in the up coming Australian Supermoto Championships, with wins in all the races he competed in. With a blisteringly fast 58.3 in both the All powers and the Pro open Qualifying, to take the all important Pole position at the fast Oran Park supermoto circuit.

In the All powers Feature KTM mounted Reekie did not have things all his own way with challenges from Axis Honda‰Ûªs Rodney Taplin, Aprilia racing Josh Macfarlane, Husky racing Stuart Bennett. Other great rides from Brisbane motorcycles Linden Magee, Nick Brain, Alex Gobert, Luke Richards, YZF250 mounted Cru Halliday and Western Australian David Gellatly had the crowd on their feet.

Racing was Red hot in the Pro Classes and Support classes of the event as well. Reekie taking 3 wins from 3 heats in the Pro Open, with Taplin, Macfarlane, Bennett, Magee, Brain, Richards, and Alex Gobert all hot on his heals. Reekie, Taplin and Macfarlane rounded out the top 3. The Pro Lights saw Yamaha mounted Halliday taking 3 from 3, with some hard charges early in the races from Porombka 2nd overall and Whitaker 3rd.

The support classes also had some great battles, the women‰Ûªs class had Husky Chix racing Bec Bateman making a return to Supermoto and beating home Rachael Eagle 2nd and Sophie Lovett 3rd. Newcomer Jan Hart just held out Hogs Breath Yamaha racing Gina Cleaver for 4th and 5th respectively. Phil Lovett taking out the Vets, Zach Thackery just taking the honours over Greg Timmons in the experts. Nick Osborne winning the Clubman and Cody Jurd taking out the Novice.

Team Cunning stunts tore up the tarmac with stunts Burnouts and wheelies and the Trials entertainment from Zarzynski Trials team also turned on the entertainment all day long with a great demonstration course.

Upcoming Supermoto events are the World X games Supermoto 6-7th August. In OZ, QLD supermoto Championships August 11-12 and round 1 of the Australian Supermoto championships to kick off at Oran Park Saturday 25th August. With the Championship starting later this year, expect to see plenty of Australia's talented riders from all disciplines competing in the Championship.
