At the penultimate round of the British Superbikes Championship I caught up with eighteen year old Andy Lawson from Brisbane, Australia who has just made the move over to the UK.

Andy is a great young kid with plenty of potential on a bike and has one hundred percent support from his father who is right there with him.

The Seton Tuning team, based in Colchester, England, took Andy under their wing and are helping Andy pave the way to a full time career in the UK.

Fullnoise: How did your deal with Seton come about Andy?

Andy: Basically my Dad is pretty good friends with my team mate Ben's Dad and we have always wanted to come over and race the British Championship, we started talking to the Burke's about it, then the opportunity came about and Phil from Seton Tuning gave me an offer which I took up so I ended up over here. So thanks to Ben and his parents for sorting out the deal for us to get us over here.

Fullnoise: What were you racing this year in Australia?

Andy: I was racing the Australian Supersport Championship and it was my second year on the Australian circuit riding a Yamaha R6. I am currently seventh in the championship. I left to come here but I will actually be back to finish off the Championship.

Fullnoise: What are your first impressions of racing in the UK?

Andy: There's a lot of talent, riders and teams. There are lots of rounds and I get lots of testing so I am learning heaps. I am just trying to learn the tracks and just keep learning and learning!

Fullnoise: Did you get much time on the bike before you started racing here?

Andy: I did half a test day at Mallory park then jumped straight into my first race so not much at all really. Oulton Park I struggled a bit where I qualified thirty sixth but every round from then I have progressed and got better results every time.

Fullnoise: You got a top fifteen today here at Silverstone!

Andy: Yeah, I have had to fourteenth places in the racing so far this year which is good.

Fullnoise: What are your expectations for the rest of the year?

Andy: I have one more round left here in the British Superbikes so I am going to give it all I have got, It's a track I have been to before so it should be good to see where I end up. Last race there I got eighteenth so I want to better that and it would be great if I could get into the top ten.

Fullnoise: What time do you ride for back in Aus?

Andy: I will be back on the Avweld Yamaha racing team. I have one more round back in Australia and I am on the same bike. I think I have learnt a lot here so I hope to have some good lap times around Phillip Island and it would be awesome to get a top five.

Fullnoise: What are you planning for next year?

Andy: I have already signed a one year deal with Seton Tuning for next year, so I will be back here in England racing the superstock 600 class again

Fullnoise: How does living in England compare to Australia?

Andy: It's different, I think I am going to struggle with the weather at the beginning of February as I am from Brisbane and we don't get much cold conditions. (laughs) but it's good here, I am liking the place I am living in at Colchester and everyone has helped me settle in so it's been pretty good.

Fullnoise: Who are you living with?

Andy: I am living on my own in some lodging with a few other people. I don't know who they are (laughs) but it's pretty good.

Fullnoise: What are you doing through the week over here?

Andy:I have been working for a panel beater just next door just doing car repairs and stuff like that. Then I train with my team mate Ben most days of the week which has been good for me.

Fullnoise: What else do you do for fun?

Andy: In Australia I do motocross and I had been getting into some flat track before I came over here and just hanging out with my mates and enjoying life.

Fullnoise: Congratulations on the move over here and good luck with the rest of your season.

Andy: Thanks!
