American Mike Brown Joins Five Rider Husqvarna A4DE Line Up

Posted:

The new-look Husqvarna Enduro Racing Team squad - which will this week fight for an Australian Enduro Championship in its first year ofexistence -will bring in a powerful five-man squad that includes American off-road racing jack-of-all-trades Mike Brown.

The Australian Four Day Enduro is arguably the most important stop on the calendar for off-road racing teams, and this year‰Ûªs event takes place at Dungog, NSW from August 11-16. Brown will renew acquaintances with team regulars Glenn Kearney (E3 class), Lachy Stanford (E2 class), Scott Keegan (E1 class) and Damien Smith (Vets), as he rides a Husqvarna FE250 in the E1 category.

The 41-year-old American rode for the Aussie team in its very first outings in the KTM enduro-X series in February and March, and finished sixth in the championship despite missing the opening round.

‰ÛÏIt's good to be here again, we've walked a lot of tests in the last couple of days and I'm excited." Brown admitted. "I enjoyed it when I came over here a few months back, and it should be a good time here with the guys.

"I'm just glad it's been cold weather to keep all the snakes away! Snakes are the worst thing in my life, I hate snakes.

"I just came from a six-days training camp in Arizona and I feel like I'm fit, and the bike‰Ûªs really good. I know these guys are fast over here, and you can never underestimate people on their home ground, so I'll just go out there to have fun and look to get some more experience coming up to the Six-Days.‰Û

The team is all ready at the race venue, and after spending the last couple of days walking each of the special tests upon which the national title will be decided, will try to rest up in anticipation of the battle ahead, which begins with the event Prologue on Tuesday.

‰ÛÏIt's good, everyone is in a good mood, just a little tired from walking all day." Kearney commented. "We thought we‰Ûªd get the bulk of that out the way early and have a couple of recovery days before the start.

"The basic program has been to get up early and walk all day. Everyone tries to do the tests at least twice and there's seven of them, so we've walked 60+ kays in the lead up trying to recognise anything that might catch us out.

"At the moment it‰Ûªs dry, but the tests look really good, they've done a great job preparing for the event and everything looks like it's going to work really well. The forecast is for rain on the first day, so that'll be good, but if we get too much, the track is quite hilly with a lot of cambers and it could prove to be really difficult.

"I‰Ûªm 100% and ready, and looking really forward to trying to win the event, and the Australian championship over the four days. The boys all look to be on track, and Brownie, he's just trying to keep clear of snakes. Other than that he‰Ûªs happy.

"Obviously the first challenge is to try to get everyone to the finish safe and sound - which is a tough ask over four days - and the next is to do it with good results.‰Û
