Alex Rins has broken through for his first Moto3 race win at Silverstone overnight.
Unusually the last rather than the first race of the day, the smallest class served up a gripping finale, as a four-strong lead group finally broke free from a brawling pack of 17.
The quartet crossed the line within 0.123 of a second, and the Hondas were in command when it mattered, with Alex Rins (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda) taking his first win of the season, and his Estrella Galicia 0,0 team-mate Alex Marquez crossing the line almost alongside. Enea Bastianini (KTM) was third; Miguel Oliveira (Mahindra) fourth.
‰ÛÏI am very happy to have taken this win." Rins enthused "Today everything worked out well for us ‰ÛÒ the last three corners were perfect ‰ÛÒ although it was very difficult to follow a strategy when part of a four-rider group fighting hard to win.
"I think that both my teammate, Alex Marquez, and I had planned to push hard from the start to make it a small group, but we had both Bastianini and Antonelli making things difficult at the beginning.
"Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the race and it went by very quickly. This victory is undoubtedly down to teamwork and the support of Honda.‰Û
