Ducati achieved an impressive 1-2 finish at the fourth round of the Italian Pro-Prestige MX1 Motocross Championship, held at Ponte A Egola.

Alessandro Lupino and Tony Cairoli showcased the development of the Ducati Desmo450 MX, securing the top two spots on the podium.

Lupino, an eight-time Italian Champion, claimed the red plate for the championship leader after delivering the Desmo450 MX its first overall victory. Meanwhile, nine-time world champion Cairoli marked his debut on the Borgo Panigale bike with a win in the first race, adding another notable achievement to Ducati Corse Offroad’s history.

The first heat was marred by heavy rain, creating extremely challenging track conditions. Lupino and Cairoli made a perfect start, taking first and second positions into the first corner. They alternated the lead for seven laps until the race was red-flagged due to the prohibitive weather. The standings were frozen at the previous lap, awarding Cairoli the win ahead of Lupino.

In the second heat, the Ducati riders repeated their fast start, with Lupino leading Cairoli. The race was a close battle between the duo, with Lupino narrowly edging out Cairoli to secure the second victory of the day. Lupino’s first and second-place finishes earned him the overall victory for the day and propelled him to the top of the championship standings, with two rounds remaining. He also claimed the Holeshot award.

The challenging conditions in the first heat and Cairoli’s participation provided Ducati engineers with valuable data for developing the Desmo450 MX, which is slated for production in 2025.

The next round of the Italian Motocross Championship will take place from August 31st to September 1st at the Castiglione del Lago (PG) track. After a short holiday break, Alessandro Lupino and Tony Cairoli will resume an intensive testing program in July and August.
