Ales Dryml to stand in for Darcy Ward at Czech Speedway GP

Posted:

Czech Republic skipper Ales Dryml has been handed a dream call-up for the Mitas Czech Republic FIM Speedway Grand Prix at Prague‰Ûªs Marketa Stadium on May 18.

The Pardubice rider takes the place of Australian sensation Darcy Ward, who suffered a fractured shoulder blade in the Fogo Swedish SGP in Gothenburg on Saturday. The 21-year-old is set to see a specialist for the results of a CT scan to assess the full extent of the damage.

Dryml qualified as first reserve for this year‰Ûªs SGP series by finishing fourth in the GP Challenge at Gorican on September 29. He was third in an epic five-man run-off, which saw Matej Zagar and Niels-Kristian Iversen follow winner Krzysztof Kasprzak into the big time.

The Belle Vue racer served as a full-time Grand Prix rider in 2004, finishing 22nd in the World Championship on 22 points. His last SGP appearance came at the Czech SGP in Prague on July 9, 2005, where he scored three points.

Dryml, who is likely to represent his country in the Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup Final at the Marketa Stadium on July 20, dons the No.19 race jacket on his SGP comeback.
