Adam Raga bounces back in the Czech Republic

Posted:

GasGas rider Adam Raga has bounced back to take victory at the seventh round of the 2007 FIM SPEA Trial World Championship held at the Kramolin motocross circuit in the Czech Republic overthe weekend. Toni Bou ‰ÛÒ Repsol Montesa HRC on board his factory Cota 4RT finished second but only lost three points of his championship lead to Raga, third place went to Sherco's Albert Cabestany. Bou‰Ûªs team-mate Takahisa Fujinami ‰ÛÒ Repsol Montesa HRC was fourth, having made two mistakes on a course which many described as too easy and was also the recipient of a particularly harsh decision in section three on his second visit. Dougie Lampkin ‰ÛÒ Repsol Montesa HRC finished the event seventh, never finding his rhythm in the high temperatures. The town of Kramolin sits approximately one hundred and twenty kilometres south of the Czech Republic‰Ûªs capital of Prague and was basking in bright sunshine and temperatures in the mid-30s for the weekend, after several days of rain. This meant that the sections were marked out and inspected when wet, but were drying as the riders took to them. Most of the sections took place under heavy tree cover in the woods surrounding the motocross circuit and while the going was drying, it was still damp and provided good grip. Bou and Raga, as usual, set the early pace, the pair recording just a pair of dabs each as they completed the fifteen hazards for the first of the two laps. For the second lap, realising they were so close, four stroke mounted Bou opted to try to close in on Raga and gain an advantage thanks to completing the course in a quicker time. However, he made a rare mistake in section seven, gaining a five in the process, which put pay to his hopes of standing on the top step of the podium for the third week in a row. "Second today is a good result, I think," Bou stated "Overall, I feel the sections were too easy and the second lap was very fast ‰ÛÒ I finished twenty minutes early. Adam and I were the same on the first lap, so I tried to stay closer to him on the second lap, so that if we had the same number of marks and cleans, I would have an advantage thanks to a shorter time. However, I made a mistake in section seven on the second lap and picked up a five, which was the end of it. But I am still happy with second place. It‰Ûªs good for the championship and I need to always be on the podium. With three more races, there is still a way to go but the team is working very well and the points advantage is very useful.‰Û
