Former Australian ProMX MX1 Champion Aaron Tanti faces uncertainty ahead of the 2025 ProMX Championship after sustaining a neck injury during a training crash.
The 2022 ProMX champion, renowned for his consistency and competitive performances with the CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Team, revealed the setback on social media. Tanti fractured his C1 vertebra after clipping a rock and crashing at a practice track last week. Despite the seriousness of the injury, he avoided spinal complications and surgery.
“Well, not the post I want to be making, but it needs to be done,” Tanti shared. “Last week, I had a small incident clipping a rock at the practice track and crashing. I landed on my head and compressed my neck, ultimately fracturing my C1 vertebra. Very lucky to have only damaged the bone with no further spinal complications. Luckily enough, no surgery was required. I’ll be swapping the Fox helmet for my new halo, which has been fitted so the bone can heal itself over the next 6+ weeks. Very thankful to everyone around me.”
Tanti made an immediate impact in the MX1 class in 2022, claiming the Australian ProMX Championship in his debut season. Riding for CDR Yamaha Monster Energy, the Queenslander delivered a string of race wins and podium finishes to secure the title. In 2023, Tanti followed up with a solid fourth-place finish in the MX1 standings.
The 27-year-old later ventured to the United States to compete in the AMA Supercross Championship, but injuries hindered his ability to achieve consistent results. Upon returning to Australia, Tanti re-signed with CDR Yamaha Monster Energy and was set to challenge for a second MX1 Championship in 2025.
With the ProMX Championship kicking off in Wonthaggi, Victoria, from March 22-23, Tanti faces a race against time to recover for the opening rounds.
Further updates on Tanti’s recovery and the CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Team’s plans for the 2025 season are expected soon.
