Aaron Plessinger is set to miss the remaining rounds of the 2026 AMA Supercross Championship, with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider focusing on recovery after medical evaluations confirmed a hip injury that requires extended treatment.
Plessinger had already sat out last weekend’s Detroit round with the aim of returning for round 12 in St. Louis. However, further assessment this week revealed a labral tear in his hip, ruling out any immediate return and prompting a joint decision with the team to prioritise his recovery.
With six rounds remaining in the Supercross season, the likelihood is that Plessinger will not return before the championship concludes, shifting his focus toward regaining full fitness ahead of the upcoming Pro Motocross season.
The setback follows a difficult run of races for the popular American, who endured heavy crashes at both Indianapolis and Birmingham before opting out of Detroit. Despite the challenges, Plessinger currently sits 12th in the 450SX standings, with a season-best result of sixth at Daytona.

Explaining the extent of his injuries and the decision to step away, Plessinger admitted the past few weeks have taken a significant toll on his body.
“It’s been a rough few weeks with some big impact crashes on the racetrack and let’s just say my hip in particular – as well as my wrist, knee, arm and shoulder – are all screaming at me that they need more time to heal up,” Plessinger said. “An MRI scan this week confirms that I have a labral tear in my hip, on top of being super-stiff and sore with a bunch of bruising.
“The idea of knowing I probably won’t race the remaining rounds really disappoints me because the team has really put in the hard yards this season getting me comfortable, so not being able to show up for them feels like a gut punch to everyone because they all work so hard.
“But the team also supports not going out there and racing at 50 percent – we agree I need to be able to give it my best. I will focus on healing up properly with intentions of being back as soon as I’m fit and healthy to do so.”
While his Supercross campaign appears to be over, Plessinger remains determined to return to full strength, with his sights now set on being ready to line up for the Pro Motocross season once fully recovered.
