Chance Hymas made a major step in his professional career at Thunder Valley, delivering a flawless 1-1 result to secure his first overall victory in the AMA Pro Motocross 250 class.
Racing for Honda HRC Progressive, the 20-year-old Idaho native controlled both motos from start to finish, leading every lap after grabbing both holeshots. It was a statement ride for Hymas, who has been steadily building form through the opening rounds of the season.
“It was a perfect day for me here at Lakewood—a beautiful way to bounce back after last weekend,” Hymas said. “My body’s feeling good, the bike’s feeling good—fastest in qualifying, led every lap, grabbed both holeshots and won both motos; there’s not much more to say—it was just a perfect day.”

After setting the fastest qualifying time by a full second, Hymas carried that momentum into race day. In Moto One, he opened an early lead and stayed composed under pressure to ride it out. In Moto Two, he repeated the process — this time winning by more than 11 seconds.
Team Manager Lars Lindstrom praised the effort, calling Hymas’s ride “an absolute clinic” and hinting that the team may need to come up with new nicknames for the rising star. His commanding performance underlined his growing potential.
With this result, Hymas becomes one of just a handful of Red Riders to win at Thunder Valley in the 250 class, joining names like Jett and Hunter Lawrence, Eli Tomac and Justin Barcia. More importantly, it marks a personal milestone.
