Graham Jarvis is Austalia bound for the opening round of the 2023 W.A. Hard Enduro Season

The five most frequently asked questions when passing through airport customs are;

  1. What is the purpose of your trip?
  2. How long do you intend to stay?
  3. Where will you be staying?
  4. What is your occupation?
  5. Do you have anything to declare?

Exactly how Graham Jarvis will answer those questions when he gets to the gates of Down Under is anyone’s guess. But I just hope to the ‘Gods of Hard Enduro’ that, by the time Questions 3 and 4 are asked of Jarvis, the Customs Officers do not recognize him!

If they do, let’s hope none of them were among the 1.2M+ people that followed Graham’s Insta feed when Britain was in lockdown back in 2020. If they were, I am almost certain they will be phoning ahead to Bridgetown, WA.

I imagine the telephone exchange would go a little something like this:
“Bridgetown Shire Offices. How may I help you?”
“Yes, good morning. This is the AFP at Perth International Airport. We would like to advise you to lock up your sheds and outbuildings! The Goat is on his way south and his arrival is imminent”.

Bridgetown. Home of the 2023 WHES Graham Jarvis Invitational

You see, Bridgetown is a quiet little town nestled in the rolling hills of the south-west biogeographic province. On any Sunday the loudest thing you are likely to hear is Maud’s pacemaker battery warning alarm telling her to plug in quick if she wants to make it to bowls that afternoon.

Bridgetown is, in fact, the only heritage listed town in WA, and for good reason. With quaint preserved buildings and manicured gardens, Bridgetown is reminiscent of a bygone era; the old gaol a stunning example.

Bridgetown is also Western Australia’s only Heritage Listed town.

The fact that it will play host to the first event of the 2023 W.A. Hard Enduro Season, is quite the juxtaposition. And that it is the Graham Jarvis Invitational! Well, I suspect there will be much rubbing of chins, pointing and tut tutting as Jarvis and the rest of the WHES crew roll into town.

Given the Goats past performance last time he was penned in (during Covid) one wonders if Bridgetown might come off second best following his visit. After 20 hours on a plane who knows what he might do when he pulls the RockStar gear on and fires up the Husky.

What happened the last time someone tried to keep the Goat in a pen?

I just can’t help but giggle to myself when I imagine Graham making accommodation enquiries:
“Yes, I would like a room if you’d please. Simply, two nights shall suffice.

How many you ask? Mmmm….Just myself.

Are you amenable to pets? I have a Husky.

I do declare, though she is house-trained, she is prone to jumping on the furniture.
Very well then.

Thank-you and good day”.

Graham Jarvis will be running a coaching session for the WA Hard Enduro Series on April 1st at Bridgetown, WA and the day after will be the Jarvis Invitational Race – Details Here.

The WHES Graham Jarvis Invitational. Go to wahardenduro.com.au to get your tickets.
We do ‘DECLARE’ it will be big!!

Will Jarvis find an Air BnB that allows pets inside? In particular, a husky that is not quite house-trained.
